This post is going to be short and sweet because my sweeties are keeping me pretty busy right now. My almost-five-year-old is full of deep questions about the solar system, volcanos, evolution, Earth science, and more. (Thank you, Google!) My baby sweetie is teething and crawling and tearing the place apart. Busy, busy, busy.
To create the chocolate candy hearts on my Sweet & Simple Valentine’s Day Cake I employed a very sophisticated set of tools. I’m guessing you have at least 10 on hand. (ba dum, tss)
Sweet & Simple Valentine’s Day Cake
Supplies
Candy melts or colored white chocolate
Parchment paper
Small knife
Small icing spatula
Buttercream iced cake or cupcakes
Step 1:
Melt candy melts or colored white chocolate in a small bowl. Dip your immaculately clean finger tip into the melted candy. Place the dipped portion of your finger onto the parchment paper and pull down and away while lifting your finger from the paper.
Step 2:
Repeat step 1, starting to the side of your first smear, pressing and swiping down and away so that the bottom points overlap.
Step 3:
Make larger hearts with your thumb and smaller hearts with your pinky. If getting a little messy isn’t your thing, create the same hearts using a small icing spatula or even popsicle sticks.
Step 4:
Use the tip of a small knife or icing spatula to lift the hearts off the parchment paper once they’re completely set.
Step 5:
Place your chocolate candy hearts onto a cake that’s been freshly iced with buttercream, use them to top cupcakes, or sprinkled them onto a Valentine’s Day ice cream sundae.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
XOXO
