I’ve rounded up all of my prettiest and tastiest mother’s day projects! There’s a little something for everyone here. From easy and fun candy inspired cake designs that you can make with the kids, to delicious and sophisticated chocolate flowers and wraps for the more experienced baker.
Chocolate Floral Wrap Cake
A seriously sophisticated chic treat for mom. Working with chocolate can be tricky, but is really quite easy and fun once you get the hang of it!
Watercolor Monet Inspired Buttercream Cake
This cake is a great project for bakers with little to no experience. It’s impressive appearance will leave your mom thinking you’re a cake pro!
So easy and so fun! A great cake to make with the kids. They’ll get a kick out of what stands in for baking pans in this project.
Send mom off to work on Monday with a bag full of glam snacks, or use these to dress up a store-bought cake or cupcakes.
Make matching cake ring pops for you and your mom! Dip in her favorite kind of chocolate and top with an assortment of tasty treats.
Airheads were a revelation for me! They’re inexpensive, available everywhere, easy to work with, and mighty delicious. I decorated a fondant finished cake, but they would work just as well on a buttercream iced cake or cupcakes.
Chocolate flowers make the perfect Mother’s Day gift – candy and flowers all in one! I demonstrate the daffodils over on The Cake Blog. Tutorials for the rest of the flowers on this cake are available in my Craftsy class Delicious Decorations: Chocolate Flowers.
This project could not be any easier! Older kids can help cut up the candy, while the younger ones arrange the candy pieces into flower shapes.
Last but not least, I have a little announcement of my own! This Mother’s Day is doubly special for me, because it’s my first as a mom of two. Early last week our little Violet made her way into the world! It’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks, with our newly formed family of four getting to used to a new way of living. I’m sleep deprived and a bit delirious, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
